I have all the sub folders and yes i have neighborhoods. in that folder is all the neighborhoods such as N002..... in each of these folder is storytelling, lots, characters and so on. I have windows 7 and i don't have a Sims 2 folder its Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. i just looked in Veronaville and my house is there but not my family. For Desiderata Valley the neighborhood shows up but its empty meaning no lots or Sims in the neighborhood or bins. its just cars driving around! In River Blossom Hills everything shows up but my house and family. It looks like base game.

@strawberry85

Could you have installed your old hoods in the wrong place?

When you look at your saved hood - does it have all that stuff?

@strawberry85

When I say saved hood - I'm talking about the copy you made from your computer before it was wiped. I'm not talking about a special form of saved game.

What I'm trying to work out is
(a) Whether you saved all the right stuff from your computer before it was wiped.
(b) Where you are putting the stuff you saved, and if it's the right place.

Oh well I'm not sure. This was my first time so I probably didn't do it right. I just saved the whole game folder/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. I thought everything was in there. I have my downloads and that's more important to me anyway. Since one of my houses appeared I just recreated the family and moved them into the house. Eventually I'll do the same for my other two families I lost. For in the future just exactly what do i need to back up?

oh as where i put them i just replaced the folders the game generated with my saved ones

If you saved everything in that folder - then your hood should be there.

However it sounds like you're getting bits of it, but not all of it. I think at this point just recreating the hood will be the way to go.

Hi Kiri,

First let me offer a big thanks to you for all your trouble and help. I really appreciate all the work you've put into getting this tutorial together and helping everyone out individually.

I have followed the steps outlined in the tutorial and I am currently running my Sims 2 (no expansions, no customs) in Pack 2 XP compatibility mode.

Relevant info;

1) OS: Windows 8.1
2) Attached config
3) When I go to create a character it will occasionally let me get all the way through (in fact I have created one family by simply using the randomizer and working quickly). However, it seems whenever I spend time editing a character (embarrassingly for EA every asian male I have made has crashed!) it tends to give the "program has stopped working and will be terminated" message as I am clicking the check mark to go on to the next screen. Generally the little load cursor appears and then it just stays there.

Any help/thoughts etc appreciated!
