Closed Sims 2 and Graphics Cards - the fixes.

@Vel!x Have you tried deleting the cache from your game folder?
\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\
Delete everything that says '.cache' - the game will regenerate it.
(BTW - I'm a girl. )

First off, I wanted to say thank you so much! I was having issues with CAS crashes as well as the weird graphics, and this completely fixed it!

However, I wanted to know if there is a fix for these issues in Body Shop? As I am still getting the same crash as I was previously getting every time I tried to create a sim in CAS, only every time I try and create anything in Body Shop ;A;

would the new Graphics Rules Maker work on my game Kiri ?

Hello, I downloaded the sims 2 ultimate when it went free for my gf, but I noticed when she plays the graphics flicker. It looks like its just the faces of certain sims, and they just wig out, expanding to rectangles half the size of the screen. I tried your fixer, but it f'd the files twice and had to uninstall/install twice. I also tried changing some code as directed on various sites, but changed them back after they didnt work. The code I tried changing was for the smooth edges option under graphics, its greyed out for some reason and ive read if I maxed it the nonsense would stop.

If I could possibly get a fix for the smooth edge slider being greyed out (if thats the thing that will fix it), that'd be awesome. I play a bunch of games with add ons, mods, etc, but for some reason I cant figure this one out, I cant even install a simple mod for her >.> This game is kicking my ass and I dont even play it.

Sorry in advance if this was already brought up, and if so please direct me to the page number, I browsed through and didnt catch anything.

edit: Im on a windows 7 laptop, looks like its integrated, dont see a card anywhere ( not on her comp much ). Dont have the text log because im re-installing the game again because I suck.

I have a Lenovo H430 PC with the attached config file. Is this the correct config file I need to give you? My graphics driver was NOT found in the database. I have integrated Intel Graphics on my computer. is there a fix for this? I've been trying to get that shadow box problem fixed. Do I need to delete every cache instance or something?

Do you think the Graphics Rule Maker could work for me too, or is my problem of a different nature? I don't want to change anything without your permission.

@ndiniz2012 Deleting the cache is only when the game doesn't ever load, or just doesn't start. You just need the Intel Fix from the first post - alternatively try the Graphic Rule Maker listed in the banner - it should sort all of that out for you.

That's a part of the regedit keys. If you don't know what it is, then you shouldn't touch it because it can stop your game from working at all.

When you're done installing - try the Graphic Rule Maker listed above - it will fix most all of those problems for you - then just push the smooth edges up to more and you should be done.

@lakealien When you put the change in, did you put it in both the Config folder AND the CSConfig folder? If the change is in the CSConfig folder it *should* fix bodyshop.

Hey! New Here! I have a problem with Sims 2 UC as well but not a Lo res/texture problem. I'm on a laptop. windows 8.1, 8gb ram, i7 and nvidia gt755m card. I had a problem with square shadows but I fixed it by sacrificing the sim shadows. But there's one problem that can't seem to fix - horrible stuttering or you may say, drastic frame jumps. Putting smooth edges highest didn't work. Changing compatibility to Xp, Vista, & 7 didn't work ( I'm using 7 atm), changing my nvidia settings to default didn't work, going back to factory driver didn't work and I just don't know what else to do. My frames is stable at 60 when I'm not doing anything but it drops drastically to the 40s when i'm moving the camera to actually play the game. Even bigger drop to 30s when the there's snow. My computer can run newer games amazingly and I know Sims 2 wasn't optimized for quad core processors but is that it? I'm screwed with no fix? :/

@DiplexR Have you set your game to run as admin? But yeah - Sims2 doesn't really understand quad core. Can you put your -config-log.txt up and I can see if there's anything we can tweak to make it go better.
