Hi there,

I am losing my mind here. I have followed every guide and possible forum post to get this game running bigger than 640x480 and its just not working.

I have tried:
- GRM, yes I have ensured its selected the correct graphics card according to the config-log.
- Manually setting the graphic rule and video card srg files. Yes I checked to make sure they stayed as srg and not txt files.
- Changed EVERY graphic rule and video card srg file amongst all the expansions.
- Ran it under win xp pack 2 compatibility. And it is defaulted to run as admin
- Downloaded sizer to temp fix it. But not even that works.

The game runs perfectly fine, its literally just the resolution.

I'm on win 11, 64x.

This is currently the graphic rule settings, I have copy and pasted every "solution" version and none work.
option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $MediumButDefaultLow
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
# GraphicsRulesMaker Tweak: Custom maximum resolution
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
# GraphicsRulesMaker Tweak: Custom default resolution
uintProp defaultResWidth 1920
uintProp defaultResHeight 1080

please save my sanity. I hope i included everything.
TIA

Several things catch my eye.
1.> Your game reports it's running on no more than 1024 MB, or 1 GB. You need a 4 GB patch, such as 'George'.

2.> I don't believe it's advisable to set your default resolution to the max. I would set that back to 800x600, if I were you.
Here's the reeason: if the game finds it has too little memory for maximum resolution, it will try the default. And if that is ALSO too much, it will go back all the way down to the minimum of 640x480. On your system, the game gets no chance to try something between maximum and minimum. So if maximum fails, only minimum is left.

3.> Are you on a laptop? Built-in graphics card? I'd like to see the DXDiag output, please. (DXDiag.txt)

On a whim I reinstalled it today and just went straight to GRM instead of manually editing them and it worked. So no idea what was up with it last night.

So how about that DxDiag.txt? Some of us might get more information out of that file with which to help.
Also, since you've attempted to change the configuration, we'll also need a new config file, please.

Before you post requesting help
Information we need

  1. The -config-log.txt from the Logs folder in the My Documents\EA\The Sims2\ Click "full editor" below to attach a text file.
  2. Your operating System.
  3. What the problem actually is - that will be a picture to show the problem (optional), and accompanying text files that turn up (optional), and a detailed description of what happened, and what you expected to happen.

Sorry, that is a members only option
