I read this book this summer - its SOOOO good, I actually cried at one point (sniffle).

The Elegance of the Hedgehog is translated from the original french, and is full of allusions to books, music, films, and paintings. The main themes are philosophy, class consciousness, and personal conflict. The story is told by two narrators Renée and Paloma. You can tell which one is which by the type face, and that one is writing a diary, the other is telling the events of the novel in the first person.

It sounds really highbrow and poncy, but it isn't at all. I bought this book to test out a new author, and I liked it so much I'm going to go and find some more of her stuff!!
