can you please help me fix this? Sad im really confused...

UPDATE:
Don't worry! I fixed it Big Grin Big Grin

Glad you were able to fix it. It looks like from your config-log that it was the texture memory problem, so I'm assuming that's where you fixed it.

Hi Darthfluffle,

I've looked at your config-log-trace.txt. It's told me a few things -
one is that it is using the hardware rendering. This is good.
It recognises your card, also good.
The rest of the traces are not showing up, which means that you're not being down-graded to low-res due to being an Nvidia card. This is excellent.

If we flip down to the Final Device Properties.
Device properties
-----------------
boolProp useRenderTextures false
uintProp antialiasingSupport 3 This tells me that your card can cope with off-screen anti-aliasing
boolProp dontMergeNHFlora true
boolProp enableDriverMemoryManager false
boolProp vs2LoopsFunctional false
boolProp presentWorkaround false
boolProp enumerateMultisampleLevels true This tells me that Anti-Alias is turned on.
boolProp createNVidiaWorkaroundTexture true
uintProp deviceLocalVideoMemorySizeDefault 3875536896
boolProp activeDeviceUseSoftwareRasterizer false
uintProp configParserErrorCode 0
uintProp hwMajorPSVersion 3

If we look up at your Option Properties:
uintProp maxResWidth 1600 <- this is saying you can now increase your screen size to 1600
uintProp maxResHeight 1200 <- this is saying you can now increase your screen height to 1200
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024 <- this is saying this is where you are now set.
uintProp defaultResHeight 768 <- ditto

So the implication of this is that it's working now?
Can you go into the game options and see if you can change them?

I can now change the options, but the edges of straight lines are still rough, and the texture on things feels really, really low. Is this something that needs to be fixed elsewhere? If I've been asking all the wrong questions, I am so, so sorry. :X

Not at all - Can I check what options you have set up?

When you go into Screen options in-game, do you have (and can you change)
Texture Detail set to high?
Smooth Edges slid all the way to More?
Sim/Object Detail set to high?
Graphic Effects set to high?

Smooth Edges will effect the straight lines, and Texture Detail will effect the texture detail.

If they are set to high, can you post up a screenshot of what you mean? My suspicion is that I need to check some other fields to make sure it's ok.

It is a subtle difference (REALLY obvious ingame, but doesn't seem to screenshot well), but you should be able to tell from these comparison shots. I've also noticed that the ground has the really blurry low texture "grass" when zoomed out, though it goes back to how it is supposed to be when you're right up close, it goes to how it used to be.

To avoid making massive images that others have to scroll past:

Did you change the video cards.sgr and graphics rules.sgr in both the CONFIG and CSCONFIG folder? It looks like what is happening is that you're alternating between the two - at least that is my guess.

My other guess is that the render textures false is also a problem.

I'll have a look at the graphics rules.sgr again and see why it is off.

Edited: hmmm... my render texture is true, yours is false. Mine is Radeon, yours is NVidia. It looks like it's off for Nvidia generally.

I've forced a UseRenderTextures True for Nvidia. It may work, or it may crash in the BSOD. Either way, can you send me the log again?

So pop it in both CONFIG and CSCONFIG folders, load up the game, go into a hood. Exit.

Here are the files after a load, from both CONFIG and CSCONFIG, since I didn't know if you needed both. Smile

EDIT: *facepalm* I realized about half an hour later what it was you actually asked for. I really don't have a brain tonight. HERE is the log.

When you put in the new graphic rules.sgr file into CONFIG and CSCONFIG you did take the 'Nvidia trace2' off?

I'm not seeing the trace that set the useRenderTexture true on - and its the first thing in the NVidia section.

Edited.

I'm not sure that it would do anything. I compared your config-log with Lee's and you have the same values for everything graphic.

I'm having a look at a couple of other things, so haven't given up yet.
