It's so simple- a window frame with the south wall mask removed, a "backing" added and a set of narrower shelves. (That removing the wall mask is a very handy thing to know! No need to do anything else.) It doesn't stick through the other side and there are a lot of things that will still fit on the shelves. Slaved to the existing frame and shelves for convenience (can we say "lazy mlc didn't feel like doing 48 recolors"?).. I had this planned before Buggy came out with her niches. When I saw the title on her set I was all "Noooooooooo! There goes my idea!" But since they're different.. I may proceed, throwing caution to the wind. Smile

The questions are:
Should there be more than one size of this?
Should the shelves be wall-width or stay like they are? (I like the seamless look between the cut-out and shelf niche.)

I plan on doing another set that will remind you of OM's niche set for TS3..if you've seen it. It's at Inge's site, don't know about MTS. That set will be it's own set, not slaved to my cut-outs in any way.

This has been done and posted. So have the niches inspired by OM's. Working on arched niches now. Smile

I took one look at this and a vision popped into my head, a lovely servery between a kitchen and dining room with the niches either side of it. BTW my computer and I like that you're lazy and slave stuff. Smile And as a re-colourist...I thank you for it. Heart

"Should there be more than one size of this?"
Is that one piece or smaller pieces put together? If it is one piece I'd like to see the center section empty, I'd also like to see the side shelf in different lengths.

"Should the shelves be wall-width or stay like they are? (I like the seamless look between the cut-out and shelf niche.)"

I have to agree about seamless, I dislike gaps.

Just like the existing shelving, the new objects are 2 meshes: the cut out for the wall and the shelves. So 2 pieces put together. (The existing shelving is what's in the middle of the pic, 2 cut outs and 2 shelves.)

What do you mean when you say "the center section empty"? If you mean the middle being open with no backing, that could be done...just a matter of adjusting the wall masks and adding the south one back in.

P.S. I thank myself for being lazy since I tend to do a lot of recolors for my meshes, lol.

I think Shell meant, the middle section with NO shelves... So, shelves on the sides, but completely open in the middle ;P

It looks great!

Yes, no backing and no shelves, basically just a framed whole in the wall. Smile

Ahhhh, ok. You can do that with the original meshes- just don't put any shelves in the frame. (But I might need to adjust the mesh for the frame- if I'm remembering correctly there's a little gap or two that's covered by the shelves.)

Thankies, BO. Big Grin

They look great - I have a two way mirror that does a similar trick - one side is a mirror, the other side is a spy window Big Grin

The mesh is a bit strange so I never released that.

Can I ask what you cloned to make that if it wasn't a window? I'd like to use something other than a window for the other set I've planned, but the ability to be sunk into the wall needs to be there.

Well, hmmmmm. I was hoping you were the smartest fish on the planet and figured out how to make a wall mask work with a non-window mesh. Smile I already have the meshes doing what I want them to do, which is acting like a 1-sided window by removing the wall mask from one side.

I would be interested in seeing your mirror/spy window though.
