Screen Size Issue

I was hoping someone might be able to help with a problem that has occurred today, my screen size is 1920x1080. I have always had my Sims screen size set to the largest.
This morning Microsoft did some updates, then Jon sent me something to test, when I went in game my screen size is now 800x600. I tried changing it back; but as you will notice in the pics; I no longer have the option to change it. I also appear to have lost my Shadows, Refresh Rate and Smooth Edges.
So far I have tried:
AVG scan, Malwarebytes scan, restarting, uninstalling M & G then restarting, reinstalling M & G, restarting again, taking the game out of windows mode, swearing profusely and banging my head on my desk until I have a headache all to no avail.
Please keep in mind that I'm technologically illiterate and blonde to boot, so any helpful instructions must be explained in very simple terms please.
Have also included a shot of Piriform Speccy details.

Can you upload your log?
you'll find it in your game folder - under
\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs\
Files is called xxxx-config-log.txt where xxxx is the name of your computer.
My guess is that something they changed, meant that the definition in the game changed.
I'll have a look at it and see if I can change it back for you.
