I'm trying to get the Sims 2 to launch on my laptop but when when I try to use my NVidia card even after applying the graphics card fixes mention in this thread, I get the "Direct3D returned an error: E_INVALIDARG! The application will now terminate." message. I'm using a Windows 8.1 laptop, have been running the game as an admin with Windows 7 compatibility, the error comes up even after I remove my CC from the documents folder, and if these are notable have installed the game using the CDs/DVDs and have been using the file C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Fun with Pets Collection\EP99\TSBin\Sims2SC.exe to play (playing in windowed mode and the task manager shows the Store Edition is active). My game does load with the integrated graphics card but everything flashes every 10 seconds with terrible textures and since I read playing Sims 2 with the integrated graphics card can cause serious harm to my laptop, I'd rather get the E_INVALIDARG error fixed so I can use my NVidia card. I have attached the config-log found in my documents folder for possible guidance.

Thanks!

Follow the steps below:

First you must use this program to remove incompatibility problems and errors that are happening in your game:

https://www.simsnetwork.com/simpedia/the...ility-with

2) Use the ram patch. try this:
http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php?topic=9322.0

Dowload patch:
http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

3) After this process, try this:

To finish, you must remove the CACHE from the game, and it will recreate these files again when you log in again:

Try this and tell what happened.
