As you may have noticed I like making style layouts for LeeFish
I like to make the header fun, but because of all the different screen resolutions we have nowadays its hard to make it fit all screen sizes. So the answer is fixed width to accomodate the header....but big screen users hate fixed width as they end up with too much emptiness.
Anyhoo, I found out how to get a BIG header but with a nice repeat. NOW we can haz a fluid layout, that way small screen users get to see the pages without TOO much scroll. and BIG screen users don't have a tragic little block with fifty miles of empty screen either side. All cool right?
Except for IE....
I try and be a good designer and check my layouts. I usually check in IE, Opera, Firefox and Chrome.
Imagine my horror when I checked in IE and my cool new layout looked like a dog had eaten it as the header repeat was not working - neither was the background image. GRRRRRR.
Anyway, its a case of googling and I discovered that this time IE was NOT the villain of the piece - FF and Opera were allowing lazy css.
define the background image
define the background repeat.
