I have a friend. Tim Fuchs. He pronounces it "FYEWKS". As in Pews, Pukes, etc.

German surnames are like that, I suppose. Like back in my squandered Air Force years, our squadron had a Tech Sergeant Bich. He was pretty quick to inform all the new airmen that it's pronounced "bick", not the way that English phoenetics would prescribe. That explanation had pretty much become a rote part of his introductions. Wink
