Acces Interrupt (Crash Game)

Hello, good afternoon from Spain! Before continuing, I must apologize for my poor English.

I've been playing The Sims 2 for a long time. I have the Ultimate Collection version and have never had any problems.
I'd also like to emphasize that I use Sims2RCP, which makes it run more smoothly and the graphics work perfectly.
I'm currently renovating Villa Verona and am quite far along, but lately I've been having crash issues. The game simply freezes after a while and closes, sending a message that The Sims 2 has stopped responding. What's going on? Hehehe... I have some "fairly" organized content, but I've always tried to keep it organized and make sure no mods or custom content conflict.
I've noticed that a file and a txt file are created in the Log folder, highlighting the Access Violation.
Please... I'm a little desperate, because I have a pretty demanding job and in the little free time I have to dedicate to this beautiful delivery, it's only now that the real failures seem to be starting.

Miscolored Lots / Graphical Glitch

Hello all! I hope this is appropriate to post here, I've lurked the forum a bit over the years and feel there's a lot of very experienced simmers here and I'm truly at my wits end with this issue. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
For reference I am an UC player (using Osab's starter pack). I am using Windows 11, an Intel® Celeron® N5095A @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz processor, 16 GB ram (it says 15.8 usable), Intel® UHD Graphics card (128 MB).
Hopefully that was all of the needed pre-information. If anything else would be helpful please let me know.

My lots have been miscolored on the outside, a majority of the grass darker than other patches. I tried installing dreadpirate's MM shader mod, hoping that would help with my issue but no luck, I've also tried lazydutchess' lot lighting mod with no luck as well. I looked through all of my other mods assuming those could be the issue, but I didn't have any other lighting mods, other than lazydutchess' bright CAS fix. I tried taking out all mods anyways with no luck or change. I made a new save file (renamed the original causing a new one to regenerate) and the problem persisted, even with a brand new, clean save. Turning off shadows doesn't fix nor really change anything, boolProp UseShaders false does not change anything, and any changes in general in the graphics settings of the game doesn't change anything. Everything else works completely fine, including the shaders on the insides of lots, my only problem has been the outdoor lot lighting.

I've asked around just about everywhere trying to find a solution, but no dice, so I made an account to post here! I hope this was descriptive enough, if not I will answer anything else needed; I have several save files for the game and this is the first time I've ever encountered this issue, so I'm really hoping for any help here! Screenshots will be attached below, thank you so much
It shows up for a few seconds in the Resource Monitor, then grays out and disappears. What is going on? Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any other information I need to give?

Edit: My install was the Starter Pack, and I uninstalled it. Might either use the G4TW version or just the one I legally got in 2014 because I tried to repair the install to correct the issue with the graphics file rules. Big mistake because DMCA. At least I have other options. Got a head cold and I'm low on patience at the moment.
Edit 2: Installed Ultimate Collection, edited the graphics rules manually instead of using the program to autodetect. Might've been my problem, but I also have the G4TW version so either way, I'm good to go for now at least.
Hi there,

I am losing my mind here. I have followed every guide and possible forum post to get this game running bigger than 640x480 and its just not working.

I have tried:
- GRM, yes I have ensured its selected the correct graphics card according to the config-log.
- Manually setting the graphic rule and video card srg files. Yes I checked to make sure they stayed as srg and not txt files.
- Changed EVERY graphic rule and video card srg file amongst all the expansions.
- Ran it under win xp pack 2 compatibility. And it is defaulted to run as admin
- Downloaded sizer to temp fix it. But not even that works.

The game runs perfectly fine, its literally just the resolution.

I'm on win 11, 64x.

This is currently the graphic rule settings, I have copy and pasted every "solution" version and none work.
option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $MediumButDefaultLow
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 1280
uintProp maxResHeight 1024
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
uintProp defaultResHeight 1080

please save my sanity. I hope i included everything.

FIXED NOW
I managed to fix this by getting the older verison of dxvk which is 2.4.1 in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Hi guys,

I recently updated my NVIDIA drivers and got a weird visual glitch below. Can someone help to establish why could this be happening? I've attached my config and d3d9. log files.

What I find odd in the config file is it says:

"Name (driver): GeForce 7800 GTX
Name (database): GeForce 7800 GTX"

but my video card is GeForce 860M. I'm using both Rules Maker and the dxvk-2.5.2 fix. When I remove the d3d9.dll from the Bin folder the glitch fixes it but I get constant pink flashing. Does anyone have any suggestions if I'm doing something wrong?

So I posted this a few days ago but then this site went down so I guess it didn't actually post. About a year or so ago I tried playing The Sims 2 on my computer and of course realized it didn't work on Windows 10 and wen through the whole process of getting it to work by watching videos and downloading the 4g patch and all that. Now I have a new gaming PC and wanted to play some Sims 2 again so I installed all the expansion packs, watched this video called "A Complete Guide on how to Fix & Optimize The Sims 2 on Windows 10/11" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iWlvY4NH6M and followed the steps and my game still will not work.

I am have the physical discs of the game so that's how I installed it. I have The sims 2 and the expansion packs University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons and Bon Voyage. I then tried to install the Home and Garden stuff pack online so I could install the Lazy Duchess mod https://lazyduchess.tumblr.com/post/6319...on-garden. (EDIT: I installed the George thing too, I forgot to say that).

When I try to start the game either by using the Bon Voyage disc or by clicking on the garden and mansion icon I get the Sims Launcher and then a black screen and then a window with a red x and no text, just an okay button. (I included a picture of it). Please someone help me play The Sims 2 again!

Hello

I’m having a huge issue with my Sims 2 game constantly crashing. I’ve tried almost everything I can think of:

- I’ve done the 50/50 method with downloads, removed mods, etc.

- Tried the memory allocation fix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0iwuLZy...&index=11)

- Added the 4GB patch

- Tested different Sims 2 versions (currently using Sims2-RPC)

I feel like I’ve tried every option, but my game keeps crashing randomly. I’m going crazy over this, so I’d really appreciate any help to make the game run smoothly without constant crashes.

Hello there!

I've been directed to your page from one of the TS2 groups on Fb. I have a technical issue I don't know how to tackle. I have applied Graphic Rules, 4GB patch, RPC, etc. to my game, and overall it works fine, except for the fact that the swimming pool reflections cause massive stutter. It's only the pools, not the mirrors, nor anything else.
EDIT: Did more experiments, and the "fog" or steam that comes of Sims when they take showers also causes stuttering.
What I also noticed why checking if game sees 4GB of memory in the log is that even though Graphic Rules recognized the card, I see this (proper card should be 3080 RTX):

This is a desktop computer, new build. This is the first time I've installed Sims 2 since the build (the CD version, not the combined one from EA), and it's driving me nuts. I had it working for a while with the right screen resolution, but it would crash when it got to "creating magic" (which it still does, but one problem at a time), but now it's stuck at 800x600 resolution and nothing I do, no fix I try works, and believe me, I've been working at this for days and I've tried everything that seemed even remotely reasonable.

Graphics Rules Maker seems to recognise my video card, so I don't know what's going on there. I tried manually tinkering with the files and few other things. Nothing works. I'm stumped.

I've attached the latest log. I did look at some information on how to read the log and what it means, but I'm still stumped as to how to fix this. Please point me in the right direction.

No idea what's causing crashing - please help!

Hi everyone,

I'm really hoping someone can help or provide some guidance/assistance please!

I have TS2 Ultimate Collection and launch my game using Lazy Duchess' RPC Launcher (https://lazyduchess.tumblr.com/post/6319...on-garden)

I've had a real problem lately with what appears to be random crashing and have tried multiple 'testing' to see what the issue is but all to no avail.

The problem seems mainly to occur when I browse or buy clothes - either by using the Gussy Up mod (https://modthesims.info/d/674261/updated...fits.html) or by using Monique's computer (https://modthesims.info/d/64137/hacked-c...-lt.html).
Obviously based on this, I assumed that there must be an issue with my CC - either mods or clothing or both.

So of course, I did the 50/50 method however, this didn't seem to work. I took out 1/2 my CC, attempted to trigger the crashing by testing the CC in a clean, new hood (by using the Gussy Up mod), the game crashed so I moved that CC aside and tested the other 1/2 which also crashed.
At that point, I ended up adding in one folder at a time to try and narrow down what the bad CC was but there wasn't any consistency with the crashing - some folders crashed on one 'test run' but then on the next 'test run' they didn't cause crashing...

So I decided to remove ALL of my mods & CC (except the Gussy Up mod as I needed that to 'trigger' the crashing) and tried again but the game still crahsed.

I then went back to my actual hood (not the test hood), removed all the mods & CC from there (again, apart from the Gussy Up mod) and all worked well - so that told me the issue wasn't with the Gussy Up mod, but something else entirely.

So again, you see my confusion - why when I removed all my downloads from a NEW game, did the game crash but when I did the same thing in my ACTUAL hood, it did not?

Anyway, I decided to move on and do some further investigation when I came across this post by Kiri which seemed very helpful -#11 on https://www.leefish.nl/mybb//showthread.php?pid=41853.
As I had already done the 50/50 method and it didn't work, I decided to try step B and created another new game, deleted the neighbourhood and replaced with mine - no crashing occured.
Great, I thought, it's not my hood. So I put my downloads back into the new game too but alas, crashing happened.

I'm really at a loss right now and seriously have absolutely no idea what is causing my crashing.

My downloads file is currently 11.6GB and I've recently deleted over 8GBs so am hoping that the size of my downloads folder is not the problem!

If someone could please try to help or point me in the direction of what to try next, I'd really appreciate it. I'm losing hope and all I want to do is play the game, but right now, I just don't seem to be able to without it crashing on me

So sorry for the long message but I wanted to provide as much info as possible.

I've attached my config log as well as my DXDIAG info FYI but please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you to anyone in advance,
I have been looking for how to fix this for a long time, I've checked every post I've found and I haven't found any fix. At least, I got rid of that SecuROM thing, which I guess is good for me, but it still didn't fix my problem. As many other posters out there, my problem is that my game is stuck at 1024MB and after using Graphic Rules Maker and the 4GB patch, it still doesn't change. I have tried to do it also outside of the game's folder and then put the .exe back, but nothing. What am I doing wrong? I have Windows 10 Home.

Hi! I am having a similar problem as a recent unsolved post. When I try and load a household, I get the message "Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! This happens for any household. I have the The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, installed through osab's webinstaller.
I have tried several fixes, such as reinstalling the game, updating my drivers, deleting the userProbs file, lowering textures, changing the resolution, but the error persists. I would be super appreciative of any help!
If I move the camera too fast or try to go to a different lot the game crashes. I don't want to use lower settings, and I'm pretty sure my computer can handle the highest settings (I can play other games in the highest resolution possible with ease). I figure it's because my settings don't allow the game to reach its full capacity. I'm using Windows 10, and run the game windowed without any compatibility settings. I'll attach my config log in case it's needed. I also use Graphics Rules Maker with a 2G force texture memory, and I think I have the 4GB patch installed.
